MAJOR PROBLEM!!!

Ok, here's the deal. I recently installed a Nismo cat-back exhaust and had a blitz intake on my G and now, i am having major problems. My car cuts and dies on me... Here's the situation... I'm driving and my rpm's are about 4-5k and i have to come to a complete stop. So, i depress my clutch and all of a sudden, i lose all power. I have noticed that the rpms drop below 700 and then the engine dies. i reset the ecu and still nothing.... i tried contacting the dealer and i want them to look at it, but they be telling me that my warrantee may be voided b/c of my "after-market" parts. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!

Re: MAJOR PROBLEM!!!

relax...you probably installed your MAF sensor backwards or not all the way in...as far as warranty goes, you can always take the stuff off, then take it in...

Wanna see mine?

Its so easy to say that when its someone elses car thats messed up! Its kind of nice to sit back and watch other people have issues with after market parts. Seriously though, relax, at least you don't have a G with 9,000 miles on it and a blown engine like me....

Re: MAJOR PROBLEM!!!

The engine is still in about the same state as it has been in for the past few months. I consider it blown because I am not creating adequate compression in at least one cylinder. I'm in the process of planning my engine build right now. Its a very long process.

Re: MAJOR PROBLEM!!!

It's most likely an issue with the CAI. Could be the MAF like was mentioned before.

As far as the dealer is concerned they have to prove any aftermarket parts caused any problems with your car. No proof, they cannot void your warranty.

Let me offer another alternative....provided you installed the MAF correctly.... There was a problem jsut like this on the early version of the Injen CAI when it first came out. The problem is exactly like you describe it... the car stalling when you reach an idle condition, as in disengaging the clutch or throwing the car into neutral. So, it is the design of the intake that may be at fault.

One way to know for sure is to install the stock intake back on, reset the ECU and see if the problem disappears...

Re: MAJOR PROBLEM!!!

I'm inclined to agree with Skeleton_Cru and Gurgenpb on this one. The intake is prolly the culprit.
I've experiemented with different intakes and have found that the engine is happiest with the original OEM intake. It seems to meter air the best.
Granted I didn't have stalling issues with any of my settups, but stumbling was a concern which now has disappeared with the stock intake.
Try the OEM intake. I'm pretty sure it'll solve the problem.

BTW- the MAF sensor meters air going into the engine, and lies in the air inlet tube. See pic of connector and sensor.

Re: MAJOR PROBLEM!!!

MAF sensor stand for Mass Air Flow sensor, while CAI stands for Cold Air Induction (Intake). Gsedan answered the question pretty well....couldn't have said it better myself.

Re: MAJOR PROBLEM!!!

I doubt the dealership would void your warranty because of your mods. However, they would certainly not cover a repair for the issues of stalling that you describe under warranty since your issues seem directly related to your aftermarket parts.

The simplest would be to remove the Blitz and replace with the OEM set-up as has been stated. If that doesn't cure your problem (which it likely would), next would be looking at your exhaust.

i had a similar problem when i took my pleneum off just to see if i could do it myself when i order a new one.

when i put it back together i didn't put my MAF in correctly and it threw the check engine light and kept stalling at idle plus had no power sterring at low rpms.

just like everyone said its most likley the MAF.
