Re: 4 horns

I thought they were a direct replacement of the OEM horns?

Re: 4 horns

You should only need a relay patched in if you want to run all 4 horns. Good idea to run a fused power wire directly from the battery to get full power to the horn (should be louder as well).

Re: 4 horns

I just checked out the service manual. The 2 horns now are currently driven by a horn relay with a 15 amp fuse on it. To my knowledge they don't make 15A automotive relays, they are typically 30A. Of course, being a G the horn relay may be inside the IPDT thingy and be an on-board 15A relay. So, to be safe, I would wire a new bosch style 30A relay to the current horn trigger. Then, use the common terminal (30) of the relay to go to the battery with a 30A fuse. Use contact 87 to drive all your horns.

If you feel brave you could just try replaceing the horn fuse with a 25A or so. If you never plan on laying on your horn you should be ok....

Of course the normal result of pulling too much current through a relay contact is for them to 'stick.' That might be hard to explain to the dealer!!!!!!!!

"Uh... I just like walked out to my G and the horn was, like blairing. I didn't touch anything I SWEAR....."

OK, just rechecked the service manual and it shows the relay to be external, and its inside the fuse box under the hood. Maybe you could upgrade this relay to a 30A version, if its not already a 30A relay and then swap out the fuse!

Z_Boy:

BTW, did you find that the Sport Horns were any louder than stock? Any difference in tone, and if so, what?

Re: 4 horns

I have the sport horns. I don't think they are louder, or sound much better then the stock horns. They give the car an almost Italian horn honk. I bought the sport horns hoping they would be a little more aggressive, I was wrong.

I think the freqencies are 100hz higher on the sport horns, but I can't quite remember... they are printed on the horns though.
