I posted this as a reply in another thread, but I thought folks might be interested in this and a new thread subject would be best. Maybe this could be moved over to the FAQ/DYI section.

You can have your Infiniti dealer set up to 13 different items with the control module they hook up to the car. I had it done for FREE with my last service.

-Now my keyfob unlock will unlock both doors with the first push, so I don't have to push twice. My wife likes to try to open the passenger door when she here's the first click, then when I push it the second time she's pulling on the handle and it doesn't unlock. That's not a problem anymore!

-Now my headlight come on sooner in "auto" mode. I found there were times before when the ambient light was low for my tastes, but the headlights stayed off. Not a problem anymore!

-Now the "auto" headlights turn off immediately after exiting and closing the door. No more problems with people telling me my headlights are on when I park in a garage!

Here's the complete list of settings your dealer can do for you.

Door Lock/Unlock (with single click on keyfob)
Mode 1: Unlock left front door only
Mode 2: Unlock all doors

Anti-lock Out (prevents locking keys in car)
Mode 1: Master door lock switch can activate door locks w/ key in ignition
Mode 2: Master door lock switch cannot activate door locks w/ key in ignition

Dome Lamp Timer
Mode 1: Interior lamp comes on when left front door is unlocked
Mode 2: Interior lamp does not come on when left front door is unlocked

Retained Power (Amount of time windows and sunroof will operate after turning off ignition)
Mode 1: 45 seconds
Mode 2: No delay (Will not operate after ignition key is turned off)
Mode 3: 2 minutes

Auto Light On (headlights turn on as it gets dark)
Mode 1: Factory setting
Mode 2: Lights come on sooner than factory setting
Mode 3: Lights come on later than factor setting
Mode 4: Lights come on later than Mode 3

Head Lamp Battery Saver (applies when headlights left in “on” position, not in “auto.”
Mode 1: Shuts lamps off after 5 minutes
Mode 2: No time delay (headlights turn off immediately)

Headlamp Illumination delay (time headlights remain on after exiting car when headlight is in the “auto” position)
Mode 1: 45 seconds
Mode 2: No Delay (lights turn off immediately)
Mode 3: 30 Seconds
Mode 4: 1 minute
Mode 5: 1 ½ minutes
Mode 6: 2 minutes
Mode 7: 2 ½ minutes
Mode 8: 3 minutes

Hazard and Horn Reminder Mode (key fob allows you to choose between modes 1 & 2, but there are 4 others)
Mode 1 (C Mode): Lock = 2 flash, 1 horn /// Unlock = 1 flash, 0 horn
Mode 2 (S Mode): Lock = 2 flash, 0 horn /// Unlock = 0 flash, 0 horn
Mode 3: Lock = 0 flash, 0 horn /// Unlock = 0 flash, 0 horn
Mode 4: Lock = 2 flash, 0 horn /// Unlock = 1 flash, 0 horn
Mode 5: Lock = 2 flash, 1 horn /// Unlock = 0 flash, 0 horn
Mode 6: Lock = 0 flash, 1 horn /// Unlock = 1 flash, 0 horn

Remote Auto Locking Function Mode (Doors automatically lock after exiting car)
Mode 1: 5 minute delay
Mode 2: Function disabled

Remote Panic Alarm Operation Mode (activates when button on keyfob held for approx. __)
Mode 1: .5 seconds
Mode 2: Function disabled
Mode 3: 1.5 seconds

Remote Trunk Open Operation Mode (activates when button on keyfob held for approx. __)
Mode 1: .5 seconds
Mode 2: Function disabled
Mode 3: 1.5 seconds

Remote Power Window Down Operation Mode (activates when button on keyfob held for approx. __)
Mode 1: 3 seconds
Mode 2: Function disabled
Mode 3: 5 seconds

I know this is already in the FAQ's, but maybe we can put this in there too since i think the descriptions for each mode's function is explained better in this post. Just my .02.

 

G35MD - Can you help me out with the first item on your list? I had asked a guy at my dealer about that one and he said it couldn't be done. With which item on the BCM Chart does this correspond? Is it the "Door lock-unlock set" setting? Thanks.

An interesting note to this is that on the new Infiniti SUV - QX56 I think, you can configure a lot of these settings (auto headlight sensitivity setting etc.) in a new setup screen on its Navigation system. A very nice touch if you ask me. Perhaps this feature will find its way to the G sometime.

Hey, thanks DocMan. This will come in very handy when I finally take delivery on my 2004 Coupe/5AT/Nav/Perf/Aero/Chrome Wheels. One more thing though; do you know what the settings are from the factory so I'll know what changes to ask for when I pick up my car?

 

That first item "door lock/unlock" can be done since my Infiniti dealer did it to my car without any question at all. The service manager I worked with seemed to be familiar with these available options and just typed my 3 requests into the service order without any questions. I had this list printed out and circled which option I wanted.

As far as what are factory settings, some of the items state it. Otherwise just bring this list out to your car and play around and figure it out.

It would be good if someone could verify which setting allows all doors to be unlocked with a single click. I asked my dealer to do it, and they said that feature was only available in 03's, not 04's. I don't believe him, but I don't have a Consult tool to change it myself, so I'm pretty much out of luck. They did manage to change a number of the other settings, including when the auto lights shut off.

The sedans do - they only lock automatically if you unlock a closed car and then don't open it.

 

Any idea about the coupe?
