Question Oem plugs gap'd at .040???

So Ive looked at a couple of sets of oem NGK PLFR5A-11 Plugs and checked the gap and they're not at .043 like its supposed to be.They're at .040 maybe .041. Why is this? I know how to gap them with out touching the tip of the plug but i thought these were supposed to be pre gap'd..

Plug mfg's gap the plugs to fit the widest variety of engines that call for the same plug, and not the just the VQ. NGK site lists a gap of .044 and I know the Inifiniti manual says .043. I wouldn't fuss over 1/1000th of an inch but 3 is worth correcting.
