Sucessful Throttle Body/Failed Cam Pos Sensor experience...

so my cars a lil old(2003/186xxxmi), and the response delay has been killing me... more-so the slip/VDCoff/SES lights and random engine shutdowns. so i decided to fix both problems at the same time! first, the throttle body. i took off the intake and then the throttle body, it was freakin FILTHY!!! i know the guy who owned the G before me didnt know anything about cars but man...

so i cleaned it and did the accel pedal reset and the engine idle relearn and i ditched my 1.4k high idle on the second try. probly woulda had it on the first try but on the second time around i realized that it starts at 1.4k and slowly drops down over about 30 secs to a minute. but im happy with the results!(and im sure the car is too) btw, is it super important that i replace my gasket? i cleaned mine off with some TB cleaner and a microfiber rag.

Edit: Cam pos sensors found and replaced!

and this is my dipstick, i think I'm fine but oil must have leaked out from somewhere... when i noticed it a month ago, i scraped away a bit of it(the brown area) and it hasnt returned, but i have been noticing grime all over my engine, and im kinda worried that it may be oil

more grime/oil right beside my TB :[

Oil is probably leaking from your valve covers. That's why you have crap everywhere.

New valve cover gaskets would probably fix it from seeping all over the sides of your engine. If you see oil pooling around your spark plugs, you would have to buy new valve covers as well since the spark plug gaskets on the valve covers aren't replaceable. Valve covers are a couple hundred each. There're 2 total.
Someone was designing replacement valve covers with replaceable spark plug gaskets, but I never heard if they work or not. Do a search and I'm sure you can find it.

pretty dirty TB you had!

Definitely looks like oil leaking from the valve cover. Given your mileage - you might consider just replacing the valve covers if they haven't been. I'm betting they are leaking oil into #5 and #6. I have seen this to be the case on most engines I have see so far.

does it hurt the engine at all? fuel economy and/or performance? kinda low on funds atm, and is replacing the valve covers easy? I hate paying people to do work on my car -_- unless its something that requires precision, then i dont mind.
