Does the noise occur during the initial movment? The fist 50ft or so? If this is the case your hearing the ABS do its selfcheck. If not, and it is in fact coolant you need to bleed your cooling system.

if it sounds like rustling leaves behind the firewall, it's air in the system... as Z1 stated, bleed/burp the system (there's a bleed screw on passenger side by battery box).

yes it's designed to release trapped air pockets... maybe "screw" is not the best term - its a plug in the heater hose, but you use a phillips screwdriver to open it.

I would. It wont hurt to flush the system, especially if you dont have the maintenance records from previous owner to indicate its ever been flushed... but for the air pocket, a flush isnt necessary.

easily done alone. top off reservoir to min line - let car idle with bleed screw open (doesnt need to be all the way off)... as coolant flows, the air will work its way out - you might want to squeeze the heater hose a few times to allow the air to work its way out...

let car cool down, check reservoir, if there was air in the system (now purged), the coolant level will drop - refill and repeat the process... once the air is bled, the coolant level will remain the same and the sound you heard should be gone. *providing, the sound you heard is actually air in the system.

If you intend to flush the system regardless of air pocket - then there is no point in bleeding the system. it's all going to be emptied and refilled anyway.

By any chance do you know where I would be able to find the air cleaner assembly (airbox?) I want to bring the car back to stock because it currently has a CAI that the previous owner installed.

Glad it worked out for you...

As for stock airbox - you might be able to find one at a salvage/junk yard (the car is getting old enough to where there should be some Gs these days). Or post wtb (want to buy) in the marketplace on this forum - I'm sure someone would sell theirs cheap (there might already be some used ones for sell in the marketplace)
