VQ35DE Cylinder Block Numbers/Revisions

I recently purchased a Darton Sleeved VQ35DE and noticed the following text embossed on the side of the Cylinder Block. "Nissan Japan AM6 #3"

I am not exactly sure what year model this block is from or if it came from a 350Z or G35. My 2004 G35 6MT has "#5" instead of "#3". I was curious if anyone knew what this means and what the difference could possibly be. i have seen on the transmission the # indicates a different revision (#1 vs #9 CD001-CD009) but wasn't sure if the same goes for the cylinder block.

Those are molding #s, I've asked around and no one can say for sure what changes were made, but all agreed that is nothing significant or anything to worry about. You never know if they changed something to be slightly stronger or if it was a design/mold change to reduce cost/increase efficiency manufacturing efficiency.

Thanks Rob. I figured that was the case. I need to do some more research and figure out what year model the block came from. Does the serial # indicate a year model by any chance? Thanks.

They are molding numbers...different companies generally make the same parts for NISSAN. Its been theorized that this is the reason for the different numbers - to associate with the different companies.
