Question Z-tube Horsepower?

After searching the forums, I am still missing something so, help me out here:

It is my understanding that the only difference between the Z's 287 HP and the G's 280 is the difference in the air intake with the z-tube. After looking at my G's stock intake tube, I can't understand where the 7 hp was being lost. There are no obstructions in the intake. It appears to be a clear path. Is it the extra turbulance from the resonator hole on the top of the tube and the moisture collector below? (I think that is what the two boxed are. )

What am I missing?

The Z-tube is smoother and a little straighter without the resonance chamber on the bottom.
The Z's extra hp is a result of more aggressive ECU settings, as well as a slightly better flowing intake & exhaust.

The carbon fiber driveshaft in the 350Z probably helps in reducing drive train loss.

And rightfully so, much better heat transfer properties (or lack thereof) as compared to steel or aluminum.
