Just thought I'd share an experience I had this morning. 2004 Infiniti G35x Sedan. Crazy buzzing noise at idle - sounded like a pump starving for oil. Got out the stethoscope, prodded around for a while - didn't find noise from PS pump or any other accessory. Checked the filter (since they can easily be reached with a prodding tool from the top of the engine bay on the X models) - low and behold the buzzing noise was coming from there. Sent the customer back to whatever cheap oil change place he went to - had filter replaced - noise gone. Turns out the filter went bad and was restricting flow.

Just an FYI if you are hearing a similar buzzing noise.
