Magnetic Oil Drain Plug

Does anyone use or have any input on Magnetic Oil Drain Plugs?

The stock plug should be magentic.

I believe it is magnetic. Mine looks like the one of the left. As does my rear diff. drain plug.

Yes it is magnetic. I've noticed after changing my own oil.

I guess there is a draw back for installing a fumoto vavle!

IMHO only a minimal drawback. I've done many an oil change on my Coupe and b4 that on my Sedan, and only noticed metal shavings collect on the magnet at the first oil change. After that, nothing. Only a little black sludge.

Besides the crankshaft and cams and a few other minor things [gears/chains], what in an all aluminium alloy engine is magnetic..........the wear items are pretty much non magnetic: bearings - copper/lead.....rings-alloys. Wrist pins maybe.
