I have been running the generic Auto Zone 02 sensor (aftert cats) for a few months. I just got my hands on the left side 02 sensor. Can I just cut the tab so that it connects and use it for the right side 02 sensor instead and get rid of my generic replacement?

 

Any techs out there that can answer this?

 

No, you can not do that,
they are specific resistance for each side, and they are not interchangable

 

I didnt get a response so I ran it like that for a day and the check engine light came on. I have the car stored still but figure once I get the correct one and reset my ecu I should be straight. Correct?

replace correctly, reset ECU, drive 5 miles, you should be just fine, DO NOT drive it until then, it will run lean and jack up the valves.

 

Swapped with the correct new part and did the gas pedal ecu reset and the light went off and hasnt come back on.
