All but the Kinetix has you bolt it down on top of the manifold as well as the sides. Looks like Kinetix just bolts around the outside edge. See any problems with this?

Hi Guys,

I know a lot of people were wondering about the performance of plenum spacers... and I was too. So I built one and dynoed it... Just over 11 HP.

I have it in my sedan and it works great. I also ran some other dynos on TS headers and also posted the results here:
http://www.350zmotoring.com/forums/s...threadid=20122

In the beginning I just wanted a plenum mod for my G but was afraid to stick a Crawford or Kinetix under the hood for warranty reasons. I also looked at the Esprit but it was way, way too expensive. So I looked into building my own and I did. The project ended up being much more time and effort than I expected but at least now its a quality part and making more of them will be relatively easy.

Great work Hydrazine. I read through your 350zmotoring thread, and there's some good dyno testing there.

Do you think the 1/4" spacer will fit with a Crawford plenum? Anyway, I'm in Socal (Torrance), let me know if you want a test car with the Crawford plenum for fitment/dyno testing.

I'm pretty sure it would fit with the 1/4" spacer and a Crawford. Would have to try it. I would also like to see a comparative dyno between the spacer and Crawford. Even a Kinetix too. Clint (THX723) may be able to help on this one.

It would be interesting to see comparative 1:1 dynos for
1) Crawford
2) Kinetix
3) 0.5" Motordyne spacer
4) 0.25" Motordyne spacer

Preferably all on the same car, same dyno, same day, same tank of gas. and all that stuff.

The spacer sounds very promising. I'm eager to see more results.

All you APS people who've been waiting since last SEPTEMBER, there is a rumor floating around on my350z.com that Doug at Crawford Z Car is making a plenum from a casting and then having it machined. The rumor is also that they're going to be really cheap and you can keep your core. The rumor might also be that they have already made several and are currently testing them on cars now... (Don't you just love these rumors!)

Price? The introductory price is $195 and they are available now. The only problem is I don't have a website set up yet to process an order in the traditional internet fashion. But it will be soon. Otherwise it could be handled like a classified (off line of G35driver). Don't want to violate G35driver policies!

I like my Crawford mainly because of dealing with Doug at Crawford. The unit is easily installed, but a little more $$.
My preference, and I liked the gains it yielded.

Basically when you purchase a Crawford or Strictly-Z plenum they want you to send them your factory original one (aka the core). This way they can modify yours and resell it to someone else. Its fine to do but if you ever want to take the car back to stock, have a problem with your plenum, etc etc your sort of stuck cause you've given the original back to them. You have the choice of not exchanging it, but then you pay like $200 more for their piece.

Neff,

Did a search of my350z and could not find the thread. Can you give us the direct link?
