Anyone ever get there chrome door handles and chrome window trim painted?????

i have a black g and HATE the chrome handles and want it black all around to match

 

I wonder what black would look like.. I like the chrome because it adds a "classy" touch... wanna see pics of cars with it painted tho.

I'm thinking of painting my door handles also. Are there any pics out there?

 

I'm thinkng chrome might be a bit hard to paint. It would definitely have to be scuffed up, and primed first. I might go as far as to even remove the chome first. This can be done by a service that does gold plating(on emblems and such). Gold plating uses the same base metal(nickel i believe) and so you can remove the chrome using a chemical/electronic device. My friend got his current business started byt doing some gold plating. I just think paint/primer will adhere better to nickel than to chrome....

 

i don't think the handles are actually "chrome" i think they are just plastic that's painted that way. i never noticed that sedans had this actually.

 

Just a thought. What about powder coating these items. They will look like black chrome.

 

Actually I believe they are. Many chrome colored emblems are this way. They are plastic pieces that have been plated with metal. I believe it is copper, then nickel, then the chrome.

 

i got my grill painted black, so it is possible! and it looks GREAT!!!

they used some special primer first, made for chrome i guess...

 

There's a place in Santa Ana, Ca. called M&M plating. He specializes in chroming plastic. Although not cheap his quality is very good, turn around is fairly long too.
