Talking Can I just Matic-S for PS fluid?

I am pretty sure I can, but I don't wanna F anything up...

I have a bottle of matic-s lying around and figured i would use that instead of buying a new bottle of PS fluid...

in many cars automatic trans fluid is used in the poewr steering system, i don't believe thats the case here

I just use the Lucas synthetic fluid. I like it a lot.

As per the Manual and on the PS Cap Dextron III Compatible Fluid works, which is ATF.

Matic-S/J is not known to be Dextron III compatible. It might work but I would not put it in.

I and many others run with M1 ATF and no problems at all, which is Dextron III Compatible fluid

actually many cars come with ATF as the PS fluid from factory.. in fact, ATF is preferred in colder climates.. that's why I thinking about going with ATF.. preferably Matic-S.. but hmmm.. i guess i need more research.

if you have a spare bottle of matic j/s from a transmission service then use it for the at-home power steering drain/fill. If not, buy the dexron 3 compatible. Either way you won't ruin anything in the pump. If you ask one of the service techs at nissan what fluid they use I guarantee you they just grabbed matic off of the shelf. Unless you pose the question like "So the manual says dexron 3 compatible and my mom said matic isn't dexron 3 compatible, what will you guys be putting in my car for the flush?"
