Is this normal 5AT operation?

Hello im new to the forum as well as to a 2003 G35 Coupe... The car is a 5AT and it seems to shift perfectly, has no engine or tranny light or anything. I just notice after it hits fifth gear and is around 40-55 MPH or so if I suddenly let off the gas the RPMS drop to 1000 than back up to 1500 or so than kind of wait for me to accel... this operation seems smooth and the car seems to deaccel quicker than my other vehicle... doesn't seem like any problems im just making sure this is normal had a Mazda 3 before this and the 5AT on the G35 seems alot different.

Interesting that this was posted. I just noticed this occurs in my 5AT the other day and thought it was weird as well.
