y-pipe, headers, z-tube, k&n drop in, resonator removed...running too lean?

was wondering if anyone with above mods, or similiar have ran into a "too lean" situation and how they remendied it.........also, is techno square the only place that can adjust the a/f ratio w/said mods? is it even possible adjust the a/f at home somehow ? forgive me as i'm not too "electronically inclined'....I've read somewhere that spak plugs can be a good indicator of such, can someone in the know tell me what to look for when i check the plugs? thanks!

it is said that with all the basic bolt-on mods, you will tend to run a lean condition >14.0, which is pretty bad, especially since 16.0 is when the car goes "BOOM!" but, there are ways to remedy this. by simply adding a piggy back, like the S-AFC II or eManage, which allow you to tune the fuel cells to richen the mixture a bit. there are also the ECU reflashes such as the TS, but that's a one shot deal. get another mod, and you'd have to get another reflash.

reading spark plugs is pretty old school. it's how the tuners of yester-year determined whether they were running lean or rich. it is more of an art really, to read the spark plugs. not a lost one, jus' one that is hardly used, especially with the newer imports as accuracy is key. hope that helps!

when i dynoed my car before the exhaust.... With high flow cats (now have res. test pipes), stillen cold air box with Z tube, and a plenum my air fuel was almost 14:1 which is pretty damn lean.... i know im even leaner now, technosquare i hear will fix this.... still havent seen proof nor dyno sheets of any of this.... Does anyone have any dyno results before and after with a/f curves? Im still debating getting technosquare or getting an emanage and someone who knows how to tune it properly tweek the hell out of the car to get it right....

well chuck d, it's a good thing that you have an '03 because the TS reflash is much more proven than the '04 reflash (which is still undergoing changes). there are a few threads around the forums, especially on my350z regarding the TS reflash. the greddy emanage is a trickier. i would elaborate more and give you links to what i'm talkin' 'bout, but it seems that my350z is down right now.

eManage
TS '04 reflash

ps-yeah, i know it's the '04 reflash info, but do a search and you'll find a few for the '03. their server is jus' really slow right now.
