broken bolt stud for the valve cover

i was installing the bolt that holds down the valve cover against the engine block, and the stud snapped off.. i know i'm not suppose to tighten them hard but i was just keep tightening until i felt like the gasket is sealed enough..lol
anyways, the piece of stud is inside the engine piece. i can see about one thread pitch (?) from looking down at it. and i can feel little bit of the stud from the opposite side.

how do i go about removing this stud?

oh also, instead of that bolt, could i use some other bolt for replacement?

thanks in advance.

Take it somewhere with a mig welder (wire kind). Pull the cover. Get a nut with a small hole, similar size to your stud, and hold it over the broken off stud. Have them fill the nut with weld - penetrating the end of the stud. The heat will help break the bond between the stud and the head itself. Let it cool. Use the nut to unscrew the stud.

Next time don't screw in small bolts so tightly. And good luck.

You probably tightened all the other screws too tight also. I'd replace them all. Im surprised you didn't crack your covers. Try using a small screwdriver pick and using it to turn that thread that was sticking out.
