I have an 03 Coupe with an automatic. Does anyone have any problems with theirs? If so, about what millage will I expect it? I have about 85K on mine. Thanks.

 

How often have you changed the ATF?

 

i always change ATF every 2 years. I have no problem with it right now. Just looking to see if anyone has problems with it and when do they start.

 

Most automatics don't have issues til the 140-150K mark. If you maintain it well you should go beyond this. For extra insurance you should consider using an external cooler in series. The #1 cause for transmission failure (automatics) is from too much heat.

 

Minus some of the programming issues the 2nd gen G 7AT had that were later fixed, our cars are not known for transmission issues other than normal wear and tear. Take a look at Consumer's Guide for instance. All the way back to 2003, we are pretty clean and rank up there with Toyota and Honda. The key is service and using the correct fluid (Matic-J originally, now Matic-S).
