need some input on sketchy shop regarding motor replacement

Hey guys..
Short history briefing...bought my 04 g coupe about year and a half ago. Found blown piston ring..had to replace motor
Did sone research and bought a motor from ebay from a g35 sedan and only had one shop local that was willing to replace it. From day one have had neverending issues with the car when they were done causing me to park it in my driveway for the majority of the time since. And everytime I contact them there is a different story about why the car runs like poop.

First off the car feels extremely sluggish. It was considerably faster with a blown piston ring and I always smell fuel coming from the exhaust. After a bunch of searching the only thing comparable I found was a clogged injector being the issue. Ive talked them numerous times and first they say that they remeber there being skmething wrong with my intake manifold that it didnt fit and they had tobusevthe one that was on my old motor but I took it off before I sold it and it looks exactly the same. On the receipt it says that they were going to swap over all the fuel components during the swap which they say they did but before I sold the blown motor I had to dig to save those components myself and they didnt apear to be removed ever ..it was a pain to remove. I took the car back yo them to check it out ahain and now says its running way too smooth for an injector to be clogged. And noe they say the lack of power is because the motor was from a van (now they remember a tag on the block saying so) and i smell fuel from the exhaust because of different camshaft specs on the motor..

Does any of this make sense? Or am I crazy to think they are full of it?

The motor was said to be from an 04 sedan with 6k on it.

Im so confused/aggravated... thanks in advance for any thoughts

Truth be told, if you got a VQ35DE it could be from one of many cars, including the Nissan Quest. (only van I could think of with the DE motor)

I'm not sure what the differences there are, if any. Point is that if they used everything from the old motor (harness, plenum etc) there shouldn't really be much of a problem as the motor itself is identical.

If your shop is telling you that they found a tag on the motor saying it belonged to a van, it is entirely possible that this is true and you were duped by the ebay seller with regards to where the motor came from and how many miles were actually on it.

Lesson - Buy from a trusted source and have a trusted technician working on your car.

I hope you get it all worked out.

If the piston ring was the root cause for the problem what gave the idea to do a complete motor swap? Shouldn't new rings be a fix and maybe a valve job just in case while you're in there. The shop seems VERY sketchy and I hope you can find another one to fix this correctly.
