g is shutting off while driving

hi guys. so yesterday my car shut off on my way to work. check engine, vdc, slip lights came on. i was able to get over to the shoulder and i popped the hood. i found my negative battery terminal a little loose so i twisted and it tightened up pretty good. it actually started right up but the lights were still on. fortunately, i was able to make it to work. after work it, i briefly lost gas pedal function but the g didnt shut down oon me. once home, i did a quick check of all fluids and i retightened both battery terminals and went for a test drive. at this point all lights had turned off and i was very relieved. this morning the car fired right up but once on the fwy it shut off almost exactly the same way as yesterday and the lights are back. im looking for some suggestion or ideas as to what is happening. thnx in advance guys.

you need to scan for codes and report back.

battery is about 3 years old. something just came to me which is, the night before i was in my trunk moving stuff around and i accidently pulled the power wire from my amp and it touched ground and it made a very small spark. i immediately disconnected the battery negative then rewired my amp and connected the battery terminal. the car kinda hesitated to start which has never happened before. would this have anything to do with my issues? thnx

Test battery and do as bythebay suggests. He's pretty well known for many DIY videos here.

just returned from auto zone. battery tested good. and apparentlly it is now illegal to loan out code readers in state of California. so I will have to purchase one or have a shop do it for me. I refuse to go to o dealer unless I have no other options. Btw, coming home only the ses light was on ( no vdc or slip light). no issues at all coming home.

quick update guys:

so I purchased a code reader from harbor freight (amazon was half the price but I need it right away). I only needed to confirm what I already knew which was faulty cam sensor (code p0340). new sensor was purchased at pepboys. install was pretty easy. I cleared the code with the reader and now my car is running perfect again
thnx to all who helped.
