issue after doing full maintenance
issue after doing full maintenance
this is my first time for working on anything car wise. i've got the repair manual and i've been searching all over for answers. im at 85k miles and changed belts, coolant, spark plugs, tightened emergency brake, and a few weeks ago i did all the other fluids. when i was changing the spark plugs, i accidentally overtorqued the bolt that holds a boot down. took the manifold off then the cover and fixed it, put everything back together.. i haven't bled the air out the coolant system yet, waiting to get the radiator cap tunnel tomorrow to help with that..
i never disconnected the electrical connection to my TB but it got bumped around a bit and i opened the butterfly valve atleast 5 times trying to clean the inside with tb cleaner.
i started the car and it idled okay. once it warmed up i could depress the accelerator fully and it would only rev to 1.5k rpm.
what did i do wrong this time?
from searching old posts, ive gotten that i shouldn't have moved around the tb much, i shouldn't have opened the valve, and from the manual i shouldn't have used tb cleaner(i used it sparingly)
i wouldn't mind dancing with my car a little if i have to

first tip is I normally wouldn't do that much maintenance all at once. makes it harder to narrow things down if anything goes wrong. second tip try idle reset/relearn procedure. that normally fixes it
this is where im at. i just drove the car for 30 min. at the end, the engine started overheating as i hit slower traffic... initially my idle started as 1.2k rpm and when i blipped the accelerator it would rev and hang for a second and by the end the idle was fluxuating from 1.5 to 2k rpm. also i thought my cel was gone, but it came back shortly after i started riding around
im going to retry the relearn procedure as soon as my car cools down
