Oil in bank 6

So I did my spark plugs yesterday and bank 6 was full of oil. The other ones were fine. I know it's the valve cover gasket leaking but I'm not losing any oil or burning it, no codes, no misfires. So is it worth changing it out since it's only leaking into bank 6?

It may cause a misfire if enough oil gets in there, either replace the valve cover or periodically clean the oil out. A valve cover isn't that expensive.

Valve cover costs $369 on eBay. And about 4-5 hours of labor

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
Dude are you out of your mind? 4-5 hours of labor is ridiculous for a valve cover replacement.

Is there anyway to tell if I need the whole valve cover or if it's just the gasket?

^The gaskets are a part of the cover, they were not meant to be replaced individually.

If you saw oil, then there's a leak. The grommet used to house the spark plug is something I've heard of being fixable with aftermarket parts, but in my opinion an easier solution is to replace the entire valve cover. It's most likely not the perimeter gasket that has failed you otherwise you'd have oil leaking onto your exhaust manifold and smoking out of your engine bay at high RPM (like me). Check your oil level, then check your #6 again after a little bit of spirited driving. If there's oil in there then fix it, if there's not then don't.

Its not a major issue until the oil starts pooling in the bottom, if you pull the coilpack out and the bottom is dripping oil you need to replace the valve cover. Read up on the DIY, its a relatively straightforward install with basic hand tools, anyone can accomplish it if you take your time. The part should cost around $250 from Nissan (don't buy it from Infiniti its the same part just more expensive). If you pay a shop to do the install expect a minimum of 2 hours labor charge, 3-4 is more common.

Worst case scenario if you don't fix it is the spark plug tube fills up with oil, shorts out the coilpack, and fries a bunch of expensive electronics including the ECU. Not fun.

Well oil was sitting in there for I don't know how long since I've only had the car for 4000 miles now. But after I changed my plugs it's been 400 miles and theres no oil. My friends a nissan master tech and he told me it might have been some oil someone put and it slipped through the seal. He said by 400 miles you should see some oil even if its a slow leak. And I don't loose any oil. 5 quarts goes in 5 comes out.

wat ur "master tech" friend said makes no sense regarding oil being put in then slipping through unless they used some high pressure oil pouring device that splashed oil all over the place lol. all I can suggest is continuously check every oil change. might be a slow leak that's why u haven't see any yet.

If you decide to replace your valve cover, orderinfinitiparts.com has them for $183. With shipping it was $202.

Actually it does make sense. Reason why some people change to dino oil when they have oil consumption. But yeah I'll keep an eye on it. If it is this slow where it's only happening every 1000 miles I'm not gonna bother changing out the valve cover.
