So I am coming to u guys for help. in the past week or so ive noticed my rpm's shoot up with a slight press of gas. a lot more than normal. it will shoot up then back down and go up with acceleration. the best way to describe it is an exaggerated rev up like its in neutral but I am in gear. I notice it a few different ways:

-Switching gears
-on the high way in 6th and just to pass up a car it shoots up
-in cruise control it will shoot up and cause cruise control to deactivate.

what is the issue?

Well took it to the dealership at infinti and they said my clutch is going out. They are basing this on when shifting gears, and the cluth is coming all the way before u see acceleration.
I need to add that I have a stage 2 clutch kit and not sure if this is normal for it for better double clutching.

Btw I have an 03 6mt. any advice will help. I would hate to go through the trouble of spending all this $$$ for a clutch and its not the issue.

 

Looks very much like a clutch issue. What kind of stage 2 clutch? Usually when you get the upgraded clutches certain companies (ACT, exedy, spec etc) you can buy replacement components instead of entirely new clutch assemblies.
