i need help on what stuff im going to need???
ecu???
would i be able to use my old ecu or the one that comes with the new motor
the new motor comes with wiring harness, alternator, ecu clutch and fly wheel
should i just buy the bare motor or get all the stuff it comes with???
someone help me out??? i don't want to spend more money if i don't have to. Any help is appreciated
You will not need all the accessories when swapping - you will not need the harness unless you cut/damage it. You can swap just the block without the plenums and just swap those across from your stock motor. AC compressor, can stay in the car during the swap, no need to open that system up. Alternator, PS pump, etc - keep those or go with the new ones is your choice but if it saves you money and you want to you can keep the stock ones and just swap across. Dont change ECU.
For 2003-2004 (all of the motors are VQ35DE non-rev) you can swap a 2003-2004 AND 2005-2006 (5AT motor). Do not swap from a 2005-2006 6MT unless you plan to make other changes.
Also, 2003-2005 350Z motors will all work - and some from 2006 (5AT)
Man Im trying to do a swap. i guess if i didnt read any of this thread and would have been *** out. I almost bought a engine from a 350z non rev for my 05 g35 6mt. lol
I just found a rev up for cheap and I plan on putting it in my blown normal de. What do I need? Will it work? I have the engine, ecu and harness.
my 2004 is a m/t and the rev up donor was too but a sedan m/t both cd009. Do I need to swap the harness? The donor cars harness is a little janky.
Yes and you will need to keep your existing BCM and use Nissan Datascan 2 (pc version not the mobile version) or Uprev tuning software to match the ECM to the BCM and program your keys.
However the rev-up engines usually sell for a LOT more than a normal DE. Why not just sell the rev up and buy a normal DE and profit off the transaction? Normal DE engine can be found for like $1500 delivered to your house with low miles. A rev-up sells for like $2500 because they're sort of hard to find.
