P0335. Catalytic Converter or Timing Chaim
Ok... this might throw some people off but I'm having problems obviously and need serious help. I've had this code (P0335) on my car. During this time mt car was running fine but her RPMs would drop to 0 as I was driving on the freeway and sometimes the car would shut down at a stop light so I said enough. I bought both camshaft sensors from autozone.... (I know I ****er up) and changed them. After I changed them my car wouldn't start!! Then after I bought some OEM camshaft sensors and the car turned on. Problem is, now in order to turn her on I have to crank it for 5 or 6 seconds and when I do the car feels like it's shaking, the exhaust is deep and loud, exhaust is making poping sounds, right catalytic converter starts shaking a little and it starts smelling like straight up fumes. Also, there's a tiny clicking sound in the engine area but I can't make certain of where but it seems it's in the front. The car revs up good but when I tried driving her it felt like it was choking and won't pull. It takes a long time to go fast.... please? Anything guys/women ? I could use the help. Thanks for reading! !
I searched the site due to having the exact same symptoms and I found this thread. Sucks there's no answers here. I see it's been a few months. What was the resolution? My car is disabled sitting at a shop right now. They say they want to replace the cat but further say that there is an unknown engine issue which will be big bucks just to diagnose due to having to tear it down. I am very skeptical on the engine issue as I asked if it would be related to or caused by the blocked cat, and I was told no. Well I don't have power and the car stalls exactly like described, and there is a shake at startup. The car ran fine until it stalled and left me stranded one day. Other engine issues would mean a coincidental catastrophic failure all at once, and I'm just not buying that. I think it's just the cat and want to look into fixing that myself.
Well first off guys the P0335 is the crank position sensor which is in the bottom of the transmission bellhousing. Your Cam sensor codes would be P0340/P0345. This is why your issue is still present with the long crank and shutting off.
