05 G35 Overheating help
Hey guys,
My g35 started overheating one night when i was out racing with friends. The gauge was going up the the top line and even over to the vary tip. I called a friend and he said put radiator stop leak in it, and water, so I did. The car started driving like it was before, no over heating issues. Then (several months later) I was driving and when i got out I noticed there was smoking coming out from under my hood, i couldnt tell where from. I was showing it to sell it and the guy pulled my oil stick out and didnt put it all the way back in, so i thought that was the fix! I filled up my resevoir with coolant through the overflow valve because it was pretty low as well. After i drove it maybe a mile it overheated again...The coolant has filled up my resevoir and the overflow doesnt show but a drop in it. Why is it not circulating? I got the excess out of the resevoir because it was wya over the max line.
I took the overflow cap off and cranked it after, and let it idle, there wasnt any overheating. I drove it around the block with the hood up very slowly, and parked it. The overflow cap was off and it was bubbling, and there was a very light hazy smoke coming from the radiator overflow.. I drove home from work and noticed it was smoking again, but not nearly as bad.
Can anyone tell me what the heck to do? I dont have money for a new engine, radiator, or definitely head gaskets.
Please Help!!

Take a close look for leaks. Do you smell coolant? Check the hoses, then look at the radiator itself for damage. Are your fans working properly? What is the condition of your radiator cap? When the car is running does your heat blow warm air?
I'm confused, you say you drove it with the radiator cap off or with the reservoir cap off?
I just got done (hopefully) fixing the cooling issues I've been having with my 05 G35. One of my rad fans died 2 years ago and was replaced by Infiniti. Ever since then I would occasionally smell that sweet coolant smell... recently I noticed I was losing coolant from the system and saw some sitting on the lower engine cover. Discovered a leak at the bottom of the radiator. Just replaced it this past weekend. I went thru hell trying to find out the root cause because I couldn't see the leak but a shop pressure test found it.
What I would do in your situation is check for leaks and all of the things I asked at first. Fill the radiator and thoroughly bleed the system. This may take a few attempts even with a Lisle funnel (recommended). Fill the reservoir about halfway. See if the car overheats again. If it does and you notice the coolant is low after it cools, you may be leaking it somewhere or burning it.There may be a circulation problem there too but I'd look at the simple things first.

OK, first of all, your head gaskets are gone. Your heads are probably warped too. Just for future reference don't EVER let your temp go all the way to the tip. You basically put a band-aid on it with that Bar's leak, and thank god no one bought it like that. Basically you need a new motor. Wouldn't even be worth it to change the head gaskets on these cars. Could get a used, low miles motor for cheaper. If its still driving right now, you're basically on borrowed time.
I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but there's no way an aluminum motor can be healthy after those temps.
