When my engine was built, I thought my oil consumption would be gone, but I'm still consuming oil. Now, I kept on my oil consumption and when my rebuilder took my engine apart he couldn't believe how great the condition was. That being said, he said just to get standard size pistons since I had no wear on my block at 173K. It's possible that if I got bigger pistons, my issue may have been resolved. Not sure though.

Basically, what I'm saying is that its a waste of money to replace your pistons if you are not going to rebuild the engine completely. Then if you are going to rebuild the engine, you might as well get boost if that is what you are interested in. Lastly, its possible that by replacing the pistons, you may still have oil consumption like I do.
Doesn't sound like rings were the OC problem. You must have been sucking it up from some where and as it entered the engine, it lubed things up and kept it from wearing.

Do you have a catch can?
