cranks but will not start
cranks but will not start
hey, i got a 2004 g35x and my car cranks but will not turn over. any ideas? theres about 60k miles on the car and havent replaced anything yet except the battery about 2 years ago. sounds like theres enough power when its cranking.any ideas? i tried searching but couldnt find anything
sorry, my car is stuck in the garage and i havent been able to do anything with it. it just happened this morning. the check engine light was not on the last time i started it tho.
I believe those sensors are on the rear of the heads, if so than they're not very hard to replace but there's a bunch of crap in the way. I'm also fairly certain the sensors would throw a code if bad. Those sensors aren't very expensive IF that is your issue.

hooked up the code reader and did not get any codes. gonna try and charge the battery and if that works maybe try and test the alternator. seemed like it had more than enough power tho and the battery is only about 2 years old.... any ideas on what i can do? should i just replace the sensors anyway? thinking bout just having it towed to a shop
Cam phase(position) sensors do this
Crank Position Sensor
also - there is a fuse under the drivers kick panel that controls the Crank as well. If this is removed/blown it will cause a no start issue as well.
If it were me, i'd replace both cam phase sensors AFTER checking to make sure the fuse is good.
Each sensors is $55-65 normally, and commonly go out. Only held in but one 10mm bolt on the back of each valve cover. Sometimes the wire connectors are the hardest part to disconnect - but each side should be a 10 min replacement.
