Question for those of you who've had Camshaft or crank sensor replaced

OK, so I've been here (on the forum) long enough to know the common major symptoms of cam and crank sensor failure, but what's hard to find is the early signs. From what I can gather, these have a tendency to "start" degrading long before any codes or hard-to-start episodes. What I can't find are definitive signs that mine is gonna go soon.

Here's why I ask:
I have an anemic blip around 4.5k rpms that seems to lose power..almost like a misfire (but its not) and it goes away after about 100rpms.

Also, I threw my car in neutral a little bit ago while going down hill to cruise it down the incline and my engine stalled going about 65mph. Started right back up while still cruisin and never had anymore probs. That's never happened tho, and I'm thinking it could be a dirty tb (if not the cam sensor).

I have no other symptoms tho. No stalling while driving (not while in gear anyhow), no hard to start issues, no CEL or vdc light. Just an anemic blip and stalled in neutral once. Anyone have these minor symptoms fixed by sensor replacement?

I suggest just replace the sensor. The part is inexpensive and less of a hassle.

I suggest don't use the dealer. Let me share a bad experience I had with the infiniti dealer. I have a 2003 Infiniti G35 V6. Runs great and well maintain. Several yrs ago, I have a problem with my camshaft sensor. The car misfired and the light indicator came on. I noticed the connector had been damaged and had to be replaced to connect the sensor. I called the infiniti dealer. The service rep told me the entire wire harness had to be replaced. There is NO connector available for replacement. The dealer wanted about $2,000 for the entire wire harness. That is outrageous. And it sucks. I believe the dealer is trying to capitalize on it to rip the customer off. So, I went to the junk yard car and bought the connector from junk yard car dealer. He took the connector from an old car, connect the wires to the existing wire harness in my car and connect the sensor to the connector. Walla! Cost about $150. The camshaft sensor cost only about $30!!!

Moral of story: Car dealer is not to help you but to fleece on you. Second, they are not competent and lack common sense. The junk yard car dealer has more common sense and problem solving skills because they work with very limited budget, constraints and resources. So, they are very resourceful and very practical.

Some companies live life by the policy. Infiniti is like every other company. People will spend that 2K to make the light go away... Trust me.

You know that "trunk won't open but makes noise" issue with the wires being cut? New rear harness = 1100 + labor.

I'm not sure what makes a cam sensor fail, but age is no excuse for failure. If you want to send me your sensor I'll open it up and try to find the wear item.

Urbane.
