Easy Question Regarding Escort 8500 x50

Hey guys. I have this hardwired to my car right now. Is there a way to turn off the radar detector without unplugging the phone power cord? Reason is I go into Virginia everyday for work where they are illegal and I unplug the phone cord everytime (eventhough I know it shouldn't be seen at all but I feel better turning it off). I looked through the manual and couldn't find it.

Thanks.

I have the 7500 model, but I think it is the same. There is a **** on the left
side of the unit. It turns it on and off.

The only thing on the left side of my unit is the volume ****. Am I missing something here? I'll have to play around with it.

Yeah that would have been too smart to try that out huh? I'll check it out at lunch. Thanks guys. I figured it would be something easy like that.

pratik, hope you don't mind me jumping onto this thread but i was actually looking into buying the x50 and was just wondering what a fair price would be for one?

Also, is there any difference b/t the red and blue other than the LED lights? The blue seem to cost more?

Sure, go right ahead. BTW, the volume trick was the fix to turning it off.

Sage, the only difference between the red and the blue is the LED's and thats it. People are just paying more for the blue right now I'm assuming.

It is from a store going out of business...

How are people setting up the radar detector in their car? I saw several threads on hard wiring but don't feel very comfortable doing it unless it is easy. On the other hand, I imagine it does look very nice if you have a wire hanging from the radar detector to the lighter???

If you hardwire it let me know. I can sell you Mike Peronek's radar mount which goes great in our G's. It will hang directly underneath the rear view mirror. I got pictures of how it is if you want. I got it for $20 shipped and will give it to you for $15 shipped. The reason is I go into work into Virginia now everyday where radar detectors are illegal. I like to keep mine more concealed now Here's a pic where you can see part of it.

When I installed my V1 I connected a simple on/off switch and mounted it on the lower part of the dash just to the right of the steering column. I can just reach down and turn it off when needed. Very easy to get wires to that spot and you already have the power and ground done.
