Engine noise G35 HELP! ASAP

Hello guys! So after fueling gas(premium) @ the gas station I crank the engine and a horrible noise kick in, like a crank for just about 2 second and then it would stop. The noise appear to not be going away after I tried 6 times the most. Doesn't make any noise when I am driving the car or upon acceleration. Help ? Could it be the engine or something else ? This sounds very similar to a problem that I have been experiencing and many have had. If that sound is happening mostly during cold starts and then goes away it can one of many things but it can be best to start with the simpler fixes. Some people have had luck by simply switching to lighter weight oil, many have had it fixed by replacing the primary timing chain tensioner. After those however, it becomes a little more complicated and case dependent. I personally have tried both of these options to no avail. I plan on replacing the entire timing chain assembly, chains, guides and tensioners next. There is one post on this forum of a guy with a similar sounding issue that had to replace his entire engine. I hope this helps

Welcome to the famous VQ Start Up Clack. Happens every so often. Its the timing chain tensioners.
Some people have run into these noises for several years with no issues to them at all.

How loud was the sound? If it was like a rattle sound of metal, it sounds like the tensioner.

Which oil are you using?
