03 sedan ecu vs all
03 sedan ecu vs all
Hey Guys,
Looking for some help / recommendations before I dive into this project. I have a 2003 g sedan with 207k. Runs great burns minimal oil but its tired, only gets beaten on at the track and won't last forever.
I'm looking to set myself up for "easy" engine replacements in the future. I'd like to add cams and a tune able ecu (standalone if needed) to my current engine and when it pops I want to be able to grab another engine, swap the cams + ecu and drop it right in.
I know 03 6mt sedans have a different ecu that doesn't support osiris so I'm looking for a tuning solution that is also compatible with other vq35de engines.
How different is the wiring from 03 6mt sedan to say 06 z engine? or even a auto sedan?
I'm just trying to plan ahead and will admit I'm not the best at wiring so I'd like to avoid rewiring as much as possible.
Thanks,
Andrew

I believe that the 6mt sedans are when the ECU was changed and they should support Osiris. I assume you have a 6mt so you should be good to go. A visual check of the ECU would confirm this; use this pic to verify which one you have:

Thanks for the help man. From what I've read the change was possibly mid 2003. I have a early 2003 6mt and the "old" all silver ecu. Although I didn't disconnect it I'm (unfortunately) confident my ecu isn't supported to be tuned.
03 6mt sedan is actually one of the 03.5 sedans, and yes it can be Osiris tuned. The early 2003 sedans people refer to are the ones sold before September 2002, with doggy-door trunk and only automatic.
So I did some more research into the topic and it seems that you go by the connector color rather than the ecu body color. 03 factory 6mt's are supported! Thanks for the help guys really appreciate it. So at this point it would be worth it to Osiris tune the ecu and if the engine goes the ecu can be relearned to the new engine.
Thanks for all the help guys, you made my life a lot easier!
