Angry OVERHEATING!! Air pockets or Blown Head Gasket??

so saturday morning, my 03 g35 sedan check engine light came on, the two codes that came up was P0128 & P0128. indicating that my thermostat had a fault for predetermined period of time. so monday i decided to replace my thermostat since i was planned to go out of town and wanted to get it fixed before going so i went to go buy the thermostat and i seen video where coolant would come out once you changed the thermostat so i decided i'll just flush out the coolant and add new ones. so i did what i had to do, replace the thermostat and added 1 gallon of coolant then i closed up everything and started my car. let it warm up and let everything cycle then i realize my check engine light was still on so i tried to drive to auto zone to get it checked again. it's about 3.5 mile away from the house and on my way there i seen my gauge going up so i pulled over immediately and turned my car off. then i was thinking to myself why is it doing this then it came to my that i didn't put enough coolant so i looked up how much i needed and i needed ateast 2 gallons so i left my car in the parking lot, had my friend pick me up and take me to get more. took us about 30mins to an hour to get back so car had a good time to cool down so i added the others gallon. then i drove it around and since the car was driving fine again till i started driving faster, the gauges was going up again but this time i made it to auto zone. so we check what the light was on and it says the same thing. but this time it gave me one code of P0128. then one of the workers was telling me i have air pockets in my coolant, that's why it over heating. then me, only 17 was quick to get it done i open the rad cap and had everything spit out. all the coolant and everything. but i added more coolant to it and tried bleeding it by leaving the rad cap off and blasting the heater, that didn't seem to work. then also tried the bleeder value and blast the heater but that also didn't work. then tried leaving both off, blasting the heater and still didn't work. it's still over heating. so at this point i'm assuming i prolly have a blown head gasket. so today i tried looking for symptoms of blown head gasket, checked if my oil and dipped stick to see if there's a milk look or what not and there wasn't. then i rented this block tester where you put over the rad cap and poor this blue liquid in the tube and pump air thru it and if it changes color then you have a blow head gasket but it didn't. stayed blue. so at this point i really don't know what it could be. it's wednesday night and i have an appointment to have pep boys flush out my coolant themselves friday after noon but i don't wanna spend money for them to flush it and still have it over heading. But my two thoughts are maybe there's still air pockets or a blown head gasket. did a few research and heard its harder to bleed air pockets out these car and seen other ppl with this problem and it was just cause of air pockets but i wanna know what other peoples idea of what is it or what it could be. NOTE; car has never overheated passed months i had the car, drove out of town and back, had never gave me overheat. and also ever since i flushed the coolant. Heater stops working... what do you guys think it is? and what do you think i should do? what's your thought on me taking it to pep boys and having them flushing it themselves??? HELP PLEASE!! GO CRAZY HERE!!

Do it downstairs so they won't have to carry you back down when you're done.

There have been plenty of first time, very long winded threads started here recently. Crazy.

OP, it's a car, maintenance is important and might cost a few dollars every now and then. Get the flush done. If there's air in the system that should get rid of it.
This is assuming that the Pep Boys tech does it right. But that's a completely different story in itself.

Did it ever occur to you that perhaps you should read and follow the troubleshooting steps in the FSM?

See page CO-06

IMHO Pep boys would be the last place I'd ever trust my vehicle

You've got what is essentially a seventeen year old vehicle.
Did you use a OEM thermostat or some-other cheap piece of crap?
Did you replace the radiator cap?
Are the fans functioning?
Hoses?
Water pump?

Good luck

It hurts my heart that spelling, punctuation and grammar are dying concepts as the English language deteriorates daily. I get the efficiency of lmao, lol and other shortened phrases to communicate with but the opening post literally gave me a headache. I must be getting really old...........I attended my 20 year high school reunion the year OP was born, wow.

I don't think you are getting old.
I think that some of the younger generation do not attach much significance to writing proper English. I guess if they end up in a minimum wage job flipping burgers, cutting lawns, or schlepping packages in a warehouse it doesn't much matter.

I wonder what English Department in what school system is responsible for the op's writing?
A future college application writing essay is going to be a pretty funny read.
As far as a resume for a future job the op better seek some professional assistance.

Yes, these cars are a pain to bleed the air out of. I had the same problem that you are having and had to take my car to Infiniti but this was after NTB screwed up. Try elevating the front of the car with the bleeder valve open, top off the fluid and replaced the cap. Then rev the engine ( with the heater on full) to around 2.5k for about 10 sec, repeat several times and then recheck level. It will take a while because you will have to wait for the car to cool if it heats up during this process. ( don't open cap if hot, wait for it to cool off and start again) hope this helps.

Indirectly it helps because this is a public forum and all communication is done via writing. A well worded punctuated post is much simpler to comprehend. When members read a post and can't get passed the first few lines without reading it over again it's likely they'll click the back button and move on.

I really think that people start typing like they're on a rant and it carries on through their post. If they submit without bothering to re-read it that could explain some of it. This is me being optimistic with high hopes that written communication is not tailing off this much.

I'll be totally honest, I won't read a whole post that's so poorly presented. So people if you want my help from my 40 years of automotive experience at least present your questions in a semi-responsible fashion. I don't think that's asking too much.............

I agree but then again maybe you shouldn't post a reply then, according to your post.

The kid needed some help with a problem so I feel that's what he should get. Offer some insight into his problem and then offer your thoughts into his presentation. Just to offer, oh you can't spell or your grammar is all jacked up, does help his problem, public forum or not.

Just saying.....

Yeah, but my feeling as a forum user is that maintaining a quality forum requires the mods to actively work to maintain the quality. That's the role of the mod.

At this late stage of the forum's existence when many of the serious enthusiasts have moved on, Blue Dream has been almost singlehandedly sustaining some level of responsiveness to numerous threads. And doing so when he's loving on a goat.

I for one really appreciate his hanging with us here, remaining active in both content and quality control.

And I'll offer advice to the OP to please please find the paragraph return key to give structure to and help separate the different trains of thought in your writing.
