Problems/issues w/ G35 need some help

I have 2003 G35 6MT and I've been having some issues lately and I need some help please.

I have 34k miles and had the tranny replaced under warranty about 1k miles ago. Here are the issues that I have a problem understanding or getting fixed at Infiniti. Any help is much appreciated:

1. When I first start the car in the morning I get a chunk sound from the engine when it turns over. Only happens when it is a cold start (i.e. first time in the morning). Last week the car had a hard time starting. It was turning over but not firing up. It took about 20-30 seconds to actually start.

2. Above 4500k rpm the engine gets really rough and creates a vibration throughout the car. I don't remember it being like that when new.

3. Squeaky brakes. I had the rotors and pads replaced under warranty, but I still get A LOT of break squeal when coming to a complete stop. It's really loud and annoying.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Andrew

1. Let the injectors fill, before turning engine over. You may need to leave your car at the dealer overnight & be with them when they turn the engine.

2. Is it an engine vibration or do you experience a shimmy from an unbalanced wheel?

3. You need to bed the brakes properly.

clunking on start up

If you look in your owners manual, it has a line about clunking on start up. The clunking is the abs/vdc doing a system check, or something like that. But if your having a hard time starting, that's a different story.

It needs to go back immediately. Vibration through the whole car is not good. There could be an issue with the way they installed the flywheel or clutch that could affect the main bearings on the engine if left that way. They could have left one of the tranny mounts loose.

As far as hard starting. I have never had it take more than a second or two to fire up even when cold (its garaged though). They need to check for low fuel pressure, clogged filter, full ignition diagnostic. 20 seconds to fire on a newer, fuel injected, coil on plug engine is abnormal.

Brakes? Mine squealed too until after the warrantee replacement. After that, barely at all, still a little, but WAY less.

Is there another dealer nearby for you? I would start looking for something better even if its a bit of a drive away.

I'm really most concerned about the vibration. It's not a wheel, it's the engine. I was thinking this engine hated to be pushed about 4,500 rpm because it gets so rough, but it should be that rough.

- So is the abs/vdc check when you first start the car, or when you first start moving?

- The brakes are a joke. They replaced them and turned the front rotors. Within a week I had to go back because they were warped. They just still squeal like mad when I'm in the final part of my stop (like from 15 mph down to 0 mph).

I've had the brakes looked at and replaced twice so far, and i still get that sweaking when coming to a stop....just like you said...from 15 to 0. I'm thinking about getting some aftermarket pads like EBC Greenstuff or something similar to hopefully solve my problem.

The engine shaking sounds tranny related. Did it start to do that after they changed the Transmission?

- I'm thinking the engine vibration started after they replaced the manual tranny and clutch.

- On the brakes, I asked about the pad compound and they told me it was the same as what was originally on the car. Does anyone know if that is correct?
