Hi, I recently bought an 05 g35 coupe having 15000xxx on the dash. I have a friend who has a vq35hr for sale for 700.00 that's only has 2900xxxxx, I was considering swaping it out but I'm not sure if I need a new transmission and maybe a few other parts. My question is: what do I need to make this work and what I'm at looking at approximate cost as I will not be doing the swap myself.

 

It'll be more expensive than you probably want to spend. If your motor's bad or going bad just buy a replacement DE motor that's a drop in.

 

Is there a rough estimate of what it could cost ?

 

15,000 and 2,900 or 15,000,000 and 290,000,000

 

Ive called a shop for this swap , i was even looking into doing the g37hr swap but you will need the transmission from hr ,axles , every thing pretty much changes except for a few minor things , dude gave me a 12 to 15k estimate lol so needless to say when i do get some money up im doing a DE built block and my stock heads and everything else . good idea but definitely costly to do.

 

yea I was quoted at around 10-12k lol, I'm also saving up for a built motor but my car is down at the moment. Based on my description, some of the guys here say it might be a blown transmission line or maybe even possibly a blown motor, in which either scenario its gonna be a costly one
