Stumped removing fan pulley bracket

2006 coupe, 6mt, revup motor

It's not often I hit a wall working on a vehicle

Today I was replacing both tension adjustment pulleys and belts because something was squeeking at idle and the whole system has 111k miles on it, I figured I would replace the fan pulley while I was at it (the one people usually delete) but I could not figure out how to get it off?

There are 3 bolt that holds the fan pulley bracket in place, 17/17/14mm one corner of this bracket is BEHIND the power steering bracket and shares the 14mm bolt. I loosened the 14mm bolt that is accessible through the pulley of the power steering pulley, couldn't remove it entirely without removing the electric fans. The power steering bracket is still solidly bolted SOMEWHERE and there isn't enough room to wiggle the fan pulley bracket out from behind this.

For the sake of full disclosure, no I didn't reference the FSM or a 3rd party repair manual, I thought I could just wing it, either way I fixed the squeeky issue with the belts/tensioner pulley replacements but I want to put on that fan pulley also since I have a brand new one sitting in my trunk right now.

Thanks for the help.

Bahh I knew you were going to say that... anywhere you recommend to buy one from or should I just use the nicoclub online ones and start printing?

Up to you but I prefer the cheaper option in situations like this. Plus for your issue probably shouldn't need to print anything, just look up your repair and go from there. You are more than likely just looking for one or two solutions you haven't figured out yet.

First thing I did was download the FSM and rename each of the chapters after I saved it. This is so I can locate the different sections when I need them. You will see what I mean when you look at the .pdf. No need to print anything, just save it to your computer, and pull up when you need it.

I think I loosened the tension bolt on the power steering pump and that allowed me to wiggle the pulley out. Didn't remove the fans though, just wiggled it out.

There are hyperlinks throughout, renaming them breaks the link. Like if you're in the EC doc and it references a procedure in the EM doc, it's an easy jump.

Yeah with the FSM all you need to remember is keep it all in the same folder and start with the 'fwd.pdf' file.

You have to take the screws off holding the pulley on the bracket. Odds are it's probably rusted on, so you'll need to douse it with PB Blaster or something like that. I then tapped it off with a hammer and did the delete mod.

Removing the pulley was simple, I couldn't get the rest of the bracket off, the part the pulley was bolted to.

I think it has three bolts and if you undid them it might just be rusted on there. Try tapping it with a rubber mallet or something.

I could get it to wiggle a bit but it's seriously wedged behind that PS bracket which I'm pretty sure needs to come out, earlier motors (non-revup) folks can just slide it out.

I have a rev-up, it should slide out. That said you just may have some corrosion on the bracket making it a little stuck. These cars are getting old so under hood corrosion on the aluminum engine is settling in by now.

Did you ever successfully remove that bracket? I did it a few weeks ago and man it was a pita. Others made it sound like cake. I actually bruised up both arms yanking the bracket out. Luckily the spacer went in pretty easy

No I actually still have mine installed because it's such a pain, I plan on removing the radiator and front end in the future and am going to do it then. On the rev-up it definitely doesn't just slide out.
