Getting the right ECU
Getting the right ECU
So I need to get a new ecu and reprogram it but this is the first time I have ever done this before. So I feel like asking around would help.
I currently have a 2003 G35 Coupe 6MT but the ECU I have found in it is wrong and may be the reason why it won't start. Cranks but won't start. So I have called Infiniti and give them the VIN for the proper ECUs parts number and it was 23710AM702. Seeing that part is a grand from infiniti, I wanted to find it on eBay and pay the 1k ecu as a last resort.
So the ECU that was on the car has DC MEC31-902 A1. So would I need to get an ECU off another exact car; Same Year, Body Type and Transmission or would I need to have it being the same info as on the ECU as well?
I absolutely appreciate any help with this so I can buy the proper ECU.

The early 03's had a different ECU than the later models. IIRC it's a different color (grey I think), don't have a clue what the part number is. Do a search on here for more info and contact an Inifiniti dealership with your VN for the correct part number of the one you need.
The answer is, look at your ECM, write down the part number off the sticker, buy another one, go to Nissan and have them program it after you do the swap in the parking lot.
If the problem is FINDING the ECM try eBay, I see quite a few of each style for the 2003 G.

It's best to have a dealer check if your ECU is bad first, it may only need the keys reprogrammed. If your ECU is bad (bad injector or coil output etc) I can probably repair it. PM me if you need more info.
About the original post I'm pretty sure all the 03' 6SPD Coupes have the black 2 part connector like the 2004' - 2006' cars. They are the newer gen ecu without wideband. All 03' 5AT autos that I have encountered are 1st gen grey connectors and also use a external TCU. Also to address the question if he should stay with the same number ECU = Yes
