Angry 04 g35 coupe engine problem

so a mechanic told me my cars lifters are bad but i read that the cars dont have lifters it has shims. well if thats the case what needs to be done to fix this ticking ? pull motor out ? leave it what all needs to be done because the ticking is starting to irritate me very badly

Post a video, but it may be worth heading to a Nissan specific mechanic.

Sometimes it's cheaper to swap a motor than it is to rebuild one.

Yeah lifters are a part that's used on pushrod driven valves, this engine has overhead cams and it uses a system of shim caps that the cam rides on, it's a pretty painstaking process to do a valve adjustment on this motor.

However, we really need a video to HEAR this ticking sound, it's might not a lifter, remove all your coil packs and inspect for damage, verify your spark plugs are properly torqued, I've seen a LOT of misdiagnosed valve noise that was actually a loose spark plug.
