There's always things you can do to a car if you want. Muffler can be replaced, air filter, etc. Sure it doesn't have the huge aftermarket support that some vehicles have but that doesn't mean you cant have a nice clean car, it just won't be COST EFFECTIVE to make a lot of extra torque from the motor.
First thing is to decide what exactly do you want from the vehicle, are you interested in cosmetic upgrades, audio, some mild engine improvements? Any vehicle can be improved over stock form but you might have to do the work yourself and the gains might be small.
If it's a vehicle you're passionate about then do it, do it right, do it clean.
Or keep it in stock form, replace all worn components and just have a nice daily driver!

A LOOOOOONG time ago I had a 1993 Geo Storm GSi that I did a bunch of work to, ported the intake, custom fab header (cause the stock exhaust manifold was junk and would crack...) custom intake, custom exhaust. Ended up making 135hp at the wheels, stripped out the back seats and built a little custom rear tray to fill the gap, got the weight of the vehicle down to almost an even 2100 lbs and that thing was a fun little rice rocket. Enjoyed all the time spent on the vehicle and it was a nice clean daily driver.
Who the heck builds a Geo Storm??, but it was something I wanted to do, the parts were cheap and I had a limited budget to work with and it turned out really nice.

Do you have that year correct? A 2002 Infiniti G would have been a G20, so none of the info on this site will help (yes there's aftermarket support, I owned one).
If it's a 2003 G35, then there is plenty of support, anything from 2003-2006ish will fit. You'll only run into a problem with tuning software options.
