Accessory Noise - Continues After Engine Shut-Off
Accessory Noise - Continues After Engine Shut-Off
Looking for advice.
2007 G35X. Engine cold or not yet up to temp.
Start up the car. Sounds normal. Shut the car off right away, and some unknown accessory continues to turn for a few seconds and is making a ticking noise as it winds down.
Once the car is hot this doesn't happen. This is something new, hasn't happened before.
Seems to be coming from the passenger side.
Any advice? Anyone experience anything like this?

Are the ticks at even intervals, like something actually winding down?
Or are they at random intervals, like an exhaust system cooling off?
Does it sound electric? And where is it coming from?

Sounds like a bearing that doesn't like being cold making noise as it winds down. If it's not coming from the engine bay (and it continues for SECONDS after you turn the engine off) my bet is the blower motor.
Easy enough to check for sounds in the engine bay using a long screwdriver touching the block and narrow down where the noise is coming from.

Remove the cabin air filter, put your head near the hole and reproduce the sound. If you can distinctly hear it through the cabin filter hole then it's probably the AC blower motor starting to show signs of wear.
