Grinding noise. Won't start
Sounds like the starter gear isn't kicking out to engage the flywheel. Hard to tell for sure but it sounds like it's spinning but not engaging anything. If it sounds to you like something small is spinning (and then slowing down after you release the key from the crank position), that's probably what's happening. In the old days, we'd replace the starter solenoid but these days, the solenoid alone will cost you almost as much as a new (reman) starter. So most people just put in a new starter.
@jbarnett250 thank you. I was thinking the same. So I got it to start but check this video out of me revving it in park and in neutral
I can't really hear a screeching noise. All I can hear is what sounds like a huge exhaust leak to me. If you didn't tell me that was a G, I'd think it was a F150 work truck with 250k miles on it. Maybe there's a little groan that kinda sounds like power steering pump low on fluid. Does the car drive normally?
