Air Intake Preferences?

Hey guys,

I have a 2004 G35 sedan and I'm planning on replacing the air filter with an aftermarket "cone" filter. I'm not super technical so I'm wondering if you guys could answer a couple of questions for me.

1) What's the best one to get and why?
2) Will this affect my warranty in any way?
3) Will this damange my car?

Thanks in advance,
Brian.

I say go with the Stillen. I like the shroud it uses to keep out engine compartment heat.

Depends on your dealer.

3) Will this damange my car?
From what I have seen, the after market filters do not clean as well as the stock paper filter. But I cannot quantify the effects of this.

1. ztube (oem equip from nissan for the 350z,baffle is removed = more airflow)
2. no however may get grief from dealer
3. no damage to car

no comments in my answers above were made regarding replacing the stock filter with a cone. I have issues with them so when i do upgrade this car its just going to be a ztube.

Don't expect much of a power increase if any.

A CAI on the VQ engine is more for looks and sound then anything else.

Brian as you can already see you're going to get a ton of replies on this topic because there are a lot of opinions out there. As Skeleton Cru said, HP gains won't be that different from intake to intake and essentially with the addtion of an aftermarket intake the main thing you'll notice is sound. I'm not quite sure where you live and if hydro-locking could at some time become an issue, but if you want a safe bet go with a Z-intake tube and eithier a drop-in filter to replace the stock one or a Stillen High Flow Air Box. The Pop charger is also yet another option.
