What is a spacer/plenum?

I've been hearing a lot about this, been searching.

What does this mod do? How much performance does it enhance?

Basically the spacer lifts the top of the plenum higher allowing more (better) airflow to the front two cylinders of the engine. It's been stated quite a bit, how the stock plenum is angled down going to the front of the engine resulting in less air getting to those front two cylinders. With the spacer or replacement plenum, you increase the flow of air and add more horsepower (I think 10-14 on average?). It's a great mod, and the spacer costs a lot less than the replcements with almost the same results. I have a Kinetix plenum and coupled with the other mods on my G, I have great results. I'm sure someone else can explain better, but I thought I'd give it a try.

Later,
Ray

Do yourself a favor and search the threads. It helps the engine breathe better (grade school explanation). I felt quite a bit of punch from about 4k rpm to redline. There's lots of posts on this in addition to some good reading (if you like drama).

I hope that didn't come off too rough. Depending on the time, it can get a little heated when posts are rehashed. I'm serious about searching the plenum spacer....there is some extremely interesting reading.

For the record - it is a sweet and easy mod

I think you are in SoCal.... so if you are not apt to do the install, you could easily arrange to have one of the many friendly SoCal Owners do it for you.

Unless i missed it in the researching I've been doing. Will this spacer fit fine in the '05 Sedan? I know it fits in the Coupe.

Where can you get them? Is there a certain brand that is better than others?
