2005 vehicles responding to mods?

So it's getting to be time... and I want to know if there is much data concerning how the differently designed/tuned engines in the 2005 (especially 6MT) models are responding to mods such as a plenum/spacer, cats, headers, etc.

There doesn't seem to be much data on the subject, but I wonder if the newer engines are as receptive to the gains that were acheived in the past. For instance, a plenum may average 10HP on the older engines, and only 6 HP on the newer engines, for whatever reason, be it physical design, ECU programming, different bottlenecks, etc.

So far from what I can tell and what little dynos I seen. The 2005 6mts are responding to the spacer plate and I believe in the next few weeks there should be more info about them. I believe there is going to be a dyno run in Florida soon and that should shed some light. So far what ive read 2005 6mts are holding there own. Time will tell. IM sure it will be positive

I will be doing a baseline run for a '05 6mt on may 07 (assuming we get a few more people to sign up), then I plan on getting the 3/8" spacers and Z tube. My next dyno might not be for a few months, so i wont know till then.

Chaz,

Why don't you get the spacer and the z-tube and do 2 dynos that day. You could do a baseline in the morning and then we could install your mods (for free) in the parking lot at the dyno shop. At the end of the afternoon you could do a second dyno run to see the gains. This would help us get the required 16 paid participants since you would be reserving 2 slots.

But it is a possibility, let me check my funds and get back to you.

I just dynoed my '05 6MT Coupe over the weekend...stock. Got 245.31 HP and 222.42 ft./lbs. torque. I have a Z-Tube, 3/8 spacer, and Amsoil filter that I'm going to throw on it next weekend. Prolly 2 weeks after that, I'm going to redyno it on the same dyno to see what the increase is. I'll post the results here. Stay tuned...

No offense, but I would jump on that offer. To be able to dyno the same day "before-mod" and "after-mod" would be awesome... and you'd never doubt what you paid for, and you'd KNOW what you got out of the mods.

Plus, all the help you'll get installing the parts...

I agree. If its that tight for you I would get the filter and skip the Z-tube for now.

that would be a waste because i can get the Z tube used for around $40, so thats not really the problem. Today at our meet I was talking to todd and mentioned that I am supposed to go to Earthday Birthday that day too (all day concert) and I might not have enough time to do 2 runs and a install....I'm just going to see if I can manage the parts first then figure it all out.

Sounds about right. Can you post your plot? I assume SAE Dynojet?
