just what i thought.like Darton sleeves,Aebs T-sleeves also has flange and flats.the reason is for them to lock themself to each other.prevent the sleeves from turning under extreme conditions.

maybe these threads will help ..from the honda boards.. they have lots of experience with sinking sleeves.

Thanks I'll check these out ASAP.

Why don't the sleeves have a machined lip of .030" or so to keep them from sinking? Are they just a straight sleeve with an ID and an OD and a length? If so, even one keyway on the side (where there is a little beef in the block) would keep the sleeve from sinking. WHERE ARE THE DESIGN ENGINEERS? Can anyone show me a picture. This is really bugging me... sounds like a very easy solution for someone with access to a machine shop (hydrazine...)
I had some more conversations with some key people today, I am beginning to think that it is NOT a sunk sleeve. The method that is used in pushing in these sleeves is the same both at darton and at AEBS. They are pressed in all the way, and only then machined flat (deck-high). these sleeves do not have the same propensity to sink like in honda motors, given the design of the block. Leaking is more of an issue (as in water jacket to crankcase leak). Not sure about the other particulars, as the sleeves (AEBS) that I saw before they were installed are not in the finished form (they are finished during the machining process). In contrast, the Darton sleevs ARE finished and are ready to be pressed in (machining required on the block only).

Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease let it be a head gasket.
I know... I hope so. I don't know what's worse, that this happens, or that I am so damn desensitized to tis now... another day, another engine, another 2K into debt (unfortunately, but it's too late to quit now...)

Steve...you got some good points, thanks... it was good seeing you at TS today (surprising). I guess we'll know fast enough.
