Pullies

So, I am looking to get pullies for my 2005 5AT sedan. Would it be beneficial to get just the crank pulley, or should I get the full set with three pullies?

Please let me know what kind of gains can be expected.

Thanks!

Bro,

You seriously need to search the site, one of the biggest threads I've ever seen is dedicated to crank pullies and it will take you 2 hours to read everything.

Hey not to thread jack, but the search feature on this site is not all that great. The man asked a simple question, you dont need to say, go do a search, anyways it migh be beneficial to me also,

Dont take anything i said here in the wrong way.

I also would like to know. I dont want the rest of the pulleys, because from what i heard its just for show, make the rest match up to the rest.

they never all match, as they don't offer PS pulley, or all of the tensioners, etc.

The only one really worth it is rthe Crank pulley, that is where the performance gains come from. The wieght diff in the Idler and ALT pulleys is almost nothing.

I got the whole set. They look good and are very precisely made. No power will be gained from the other 2, but while you're in there, might as well go the whole way. But thats just me.

You will feel a difference with the UR setup. Quicker revs and smoothness are certain. Proper installation is key to this being a happy mod. Do it wrong and very bad things will happen very quickly. Follow the directions exactly.

Sorry, just didn't want to see another 12 page thread of arguments and opinions. The last one started out with a simple question as well.

I only installed UR's Crank pulley.

May add the others later, as I show and now that I have an E-Fan you'll be able to see the pulleys better.

Cheers, Ted

Thanks for the responses guys. I actually did do a search and read up heavily on pullies- just wanted to get some simple user feedback.

I will be going ahead with the crank pulley.

isn't the fluidamper like 7 or 8lbs ?
You'd get virtually no performace improvement.

Sounds interesting, but I would like to see results from people using their VQ applications before trying this.

yeah - I saw waht DaveB said, and it present an interesting point.
Though it also begs the question how much the improvement is on a VQ
which has a very short crank to start with, so balance isn't as big an issue.

This is one where a before and after dyno is really needed.

Though I am the curious type and may look into it.
