Just curious if anyone can give me more info

I was wondering if anyone has switched out their rearview mirror for another one, or has even replaced or messed with their rearview mirror. I found a couple of threads on fixing rattles, but none on switching the mirror out. My questions are:

1) How do I take the mirror off? I noticed its mounted on the glass and I didn't see any screws.

2) If I take the mirror off and try another mirror, can I put the stock mirror back on without a problem?

Thanks for your help.

The mirror just breaks right off, with force. Its glued to the glass.

I found (on other cars) that once you remove the mirror and glue it back on, even a pro, can't make it stick/look like it did before. So keep that in mind!

My mirror wasn't glued! It was attached via torx screws. I think I used a T20. Put it back, and it's the same as stock.

Hey, just curious, what year G do you have. And where are the screws. On the glass or at the top of the stem of the mirror?

I believe it's on the glass. The base slides on over a bracket that is attached to the glass. I can't confirm it today because my car is at the dealer for service but I'll take pics or something when I get it back.

What's the reason for switching the mirror? I didn't take mine off, I just got a back-up cam mirror with a 5 inch LCD screen (Which I use to view dvds ) Anyway, its really big and I don't know how I got along without it. [IMG][/IMG]

I'm actually doin it to add a mirror with a monitor on it. Theres two choices of a clip on and a replacement. I'm just afraid the clip on will look bad. Whatcha think?
