Silicone performance from Fluidampr.

DAMPER NISSAN 350Z

Using only 3 parts--a laser-welded sealed housing, an internal inertia ring, and a highly viscous silicon fluid between the two--these SFI-approved Fluidamprs can control all crankshaft vibration, not just a limited frequency range. As a result, you get reduced wear on the main bearings and timing gear, more stable valvetrain operation, and less chance of crank failure.
Plus I want more flywheel mass back on my 6MT

Fluidampr

Here are a few pics of the stock damper and the new fluid damper.
IM really looking forward to the install on this item.
When I changed to my 3 PC UD pulleys I was very happy about the way they helped the car feel more zippy as I would call it. The few Things I did not like was off idle drivability and the fact the belts had to be run on the tight side to keep them from slipping. I ran this type of damper on a 69 Z/28 331ci set up for drag racing. I cannot tell you how many problems went away. Like valve springs lasting longer, Rod and main bearings still looking new on rebuild. And the biggest plus was how much better shifting at over 9000rpms was.
Notice how they built this damper with all the weight on the inner part. The weight is about the same as stock. This is a must have for race cars.
I ordered it from Summit racing. $348.00

Man, that's sexy. Excellent workmanship too, as usual. Just another mod I'll have to be getting. At first I was worried there weren't many worthwhile mods for this car. What I mean by worthwhile is something that actually improves the driveability and even the reliabilty of the car. Looking into my crystal ball, I sense there will be a huge UR UDP backlash from the G/Z community in the coming 6 months. Just watch as people realize and understand the benefits of a device like this. Less crank vibration means your whole motor operates more efficently and can make more power. Now I've got some worthwhile mods to look forward too

Gee Pasta:
Thanks for the post and please post your impressions when installed. Also, concerning the male end of the pulley that slips into the block, is it the same material as the pulley or does it have a pressed on sleeve? I know some aftermarket pullies can get get worn in this area if not properly reinforced which can cause oil leaks. I know that most UR UDP use a pressed on steel sleeve because the alumninum will get worn.

This is a first class item and is all one piece and the welds are first class.
There are no slip sleeves and the male end is made of iron. Somebody did there homework on this. I just got my Crawford headers installed last night so IM thinking I should have this installed by Friday. For what its worth the header install is very easy. You just have to put your time in and do it. It took about 4 1/2 hours to strip the whole exhaust system and get the headers installed. (There is no room at all left) I figure it will take another 3 hours to get it all buttoned up. Crawford cats and Invidia system will replace the stock exhaust. I did post pictures of the "Fluidampr" on the Z forum and it was deleted for some reason. Check out the PICS of the back side. Pasta

You know there will be a war on here about the UD pulleys and the Fluidampr. Do you have a 6MT?

I have the UR pulley and put it on about...maybe a month ago.....but something about the whole install I did and the way the car feels makes me nervous. Car runs fine, idle's fine....but for some odd reason I am worried about engine longevity which makes me wanna put the stock crank back on....just my .02

I don't have my 6MT yet, but I have my UR Crank Pulley in a box behind me.

Even at the added cost, you've got me interested in possibly using this instead of the UR CP. I'll be watching this thread for updates.
