Re: Distance on 1 Tank of Fuel

Hey bro, Yeh I always use cruise now that it's broken in. On the 401 I set it at about 105 klicks (no hurry). On the back roads I set it about 90. I've always got my Navi on for directions and to remind me of my mileage, dte and all. If my right foot gets a bit twitchy, I turn off the navi. Can't stand watching the mileage go down the tubes. Worse than watching the gas gauge take a dive.
Speaing of mileage, I said I'd post when I refilled my car. Would you believe 75 Litres! I think the capacity is only 76. I must have been that close to sucking air.
Went 777 klicks on 75 litres. Works out to 29.2 MPG's. I've done better on the mileage b4 = 32 mpg's, but never run my tank down this far. Must have missed being stranded by a whisker. .
For you dudes South of the border 75 litres is 19.84 US gallons. Maybe they made my tank a touch big. I'm glad!

Re: Distance on 1 Tank of Fuel

Wow - now I'm really really concerned. I used to get about 240 miles per tank. After calling my dealer's attention to my poor mileage during my 7500 mile check up it went up to about 300 miles per tank. I don't know what he did but my mileage sucks. Any ideas why it may be so low? I do a 50/50 mix of highway/city driving and am a pretty conservative driver, though once or twice a day I simply must push the pedal to the metal;-) Whaddup with my lousy mileage?

Re: Distance on 1 Tank of Fuel

An old trick that I have heard about is when someone buys a new car, people would come by in the middle of the night and top off the tank......

They would do this for several weeks.

Then they would stop.

THe victim would then go and complain to the dealer that their car is not getting as good of gas mileage as it used to. The dealer would then laugh and think they are freaking crazy.

In your low mileage case, I would bet this is the evil gas theives in the middle of the night..Taking gas from you in place of leaving more....

<p>

Yeah, except that the gas filler door locks.

WTF? Does the Sedan have a bigger tank or something? The most I've gotten was about 350 miles on a tank using union 76 gas. If I use cheap am/pm gas I get about 310. I thought all gas was the same till I did this little test.

To get the long distances out of a tank, you really have to lay off the gas pedal, put her on cruise, and set your speed at about 65 (all freeway miles too). It's not what this car is made for, but it seems with a little 'sacrificing', you can get some mpg's out of it. Enjoy.....

Re: Distance on 1 Tank of Fuel

Here's a follow-up on my Coupe's gas mileage: Today I went to pick my new puppy -- Syd-- and drove 381 km. starting from a full tank this time. Did the round trip and filled up with 32.137 liters. These convert to 34.57 MPG's (imperial gallon), which equals 28.8 MPG's (US gallon).
Now to get that I travelled at 100Kph, (62 Mph) no more, and on cruise all the time. It was boring and time consuming and absolutely no fun but it seems these cars can deliver the mileage if you're really careful.
That was about on par with the Garnet Sedan I had last year.
Not bad potential if your willing to pay the price...

Re: Distance on 1 Tank of Fuel

I often drive across several states and have sampled several brands of fuel. I have found that for MY G, BP 93 octane gets me 26MPG at 75-80 MPH - all freeway driving. Around town with a very heavy gas and again using BP 93 octane, I get 18 MPG. A lesser octane gets a lower MPG. For those with lower MPG try using a higher grade of fuel and report back.

Re: Distance on 1 Tank of Fuel

I've been using Petro-Can Premium which is 91 octane. I haven't tried anything else yet but I understand that a higher octane with boost both power and mpg's.

Dude, that's pretty damn good mileage for that kind of speed. I don't know yet what mine will do at that speed.

Re: Distance on 1 Tank of Fuel

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know, I ran my tank down until there was 3.69 gallons left! The guage was at the bottom of the indicator but my light didn't go on! I was amazed my guage went this low without the low fuel indicator going on! for a 20 gallon tank and a 19 city MPG rating, I would have expected it to go on at 4 or less!

Also just a quick note, I put in a Stillen intake and a Hyper-Ground system and I averaged 17.58 MPG on my last tank. I was averaging 16.05 before my mods. I drive in the Chicago suburbs with stop lights about every 0.5mi.
