Do a search on "resonator" and you'll find lots of info. Do you just want to completely replace the resonator with a straight pipe? I think the consensus there is that it is raspy and loud. I wouldn't do it but if you want to head that way I'd suggest trying to find a sound clip or an actual person with that setup. What I would suggest is replacing it with an aftermarket resonator such as a Magnaflow #10436. Basically it will deepen your exhaust tone on your sedan a bit. The volume might get a tad louder but not much if any at all. You will NOT feel any performance gains. Your check engine light will not come on if the muffler shop does it right and there are no exhaust leaks. You will shave off about 20 lbs. due to the heavy stock resonator. This mod is straightforward and there really is no downside to it. About $70 for the part and another $40 or so for labor.

I wanted to just replace it with a straight pipe? Would that be cool? I just want an extra sound. Would that be ok?

You could always swap out ur resonator piping with a coupe's resonator piping. I beleive many members have done this over in the sedan forum.

IMO a straight pipe in place of the resonator is too raspy but you need to decide that for yourself. Go ahead and try it if you want. If you're not happy with the straight pipe you can always replace again with a Magnaflow resonator or even an entire coupe mid-pipe.

No, I am saying you can remove the entire stock sedan mid-pipe and replace it with an entire coupe mid-pipe. The coupe mid-pipe uses a much smaller resonator or muffler than the sedan does. This is a very popular mod among the sedan guys but be warned, fitment isn't always perfect. In some cases the coupe mid-pipe does rub up or touch a brace on the sedan. You can look in the classifieds section for one or if you want a brand new one check here.
